Some people working on reception make you feel you are being a nuisance by wishing to talk to them. Others are very helpful. A consistent approach would make the experience more pleasant, bearing in mind that we come to the surgery because we are not well!! A surly approach makes us feel even worse.

They are always as helpful as they can be given the constrictions that apply regarding funding. It would help his Senior Nurse greatly if she had another Nurse who can run the same type of clinic as she does and not just for taking BP's and Bloods. She is always busy and it would help her and the Doctors if there was someone else who could pop in to the Doctor if he needs to make an examination that requires a chaperone instead of the patient having to make a separate appointment at a time convenient to both of them - e.g. a breast examination requiring a clinical decision. I don't know how they cope now that surgeries are dealing with sprains, minor burns, cuts and minor head injuries.

Great surgery , always a pleasant experience

I have been a patient at Neath Hill Health Centre for 31 years and have never had cause to complain in all that time. It's a large health centre but I like the building and layout as there are corridors and rooms leading off the main reception area so it doesn't feel too big. In fact, with the decor and low lighting, it actually feels quite 'cosy' while waiting for your appointment, not stark and cold like some other surgeries. I am frequently able to get an appointment when myself or a member of my family needs one, and on the extremely rare occasions when it isn't possible, I have been able to have a quick chat with the doctor for advice. Dr Rao, my GP is just fantastic (see my separate glowing review about him!) Helen the nurse is also absolutely wonderful, very professional and very knowledgeable about so many health issues. The receptionists are friendly and helpful too. Neath Hill Health Centre, in our opinion, is simply the best! :-)

Probably the best surgery I have been to for ease of getting appointment, very straight forward and all staff are very helpful. If you cannot get an appointment for the same day, it's probably because you haven't booked in early enough, although you are told straight away when you can get one. It's never two or three days!
